Who Made My Clothes?

Who Made My Clothes?

When I started the journey of creating Ashe it was very important for me to produce clothing in an ethical manner.  With a rise in the trend ‘ethical manufacturing’, this phrase has been overused and it can be hard to understand exactly what it means and most importantly…

Who made my clothes and where?

Transparency is key to understanding this.  Disclosing information about our supply chain and production processes allows our customers to make informed decisions about the products they buy and holds us accountable for our actions.

Ethical manufacturing in the fashion industry refers to the process of producing clothing and accessories in a manner that is fair, sustainable, and respectful of human rights.

You can learn more about our sustainable practices here

At Ashe, our garments are manufactured in a small, female led factory in Bali, Indonesia.  This factory provides workers with a clean and safe workspace with adequate lighting and ventilation.  Workers are there because they choose to be, there are NO child workers!

Employees work for 8 hours each day with a lunch break, 5 days per week (workers even have a little nap during lunch time…such a Balinese tradition!). Overtime is offered, but there is no obligation to accept it.  All religious holidays are respected, and workers are paid above award wages.

We support the local communities by sourcing materials and labour from nearby regions. This creates jobs and stimulates the local economy, while also reducing the environmental impact of transportation.  We work with so many local artisans who are incredibly talented, from our pattern maker and our printers, to our clever seamstresses, they all absolutely deserve to be treated fairly and with respect.

I couldn’t be prouder of our partners at our Bali factory and by supporting Ashe, our customers can make a positive impact on the environment and local communities while also enjoying high-quality, eco-friendly products.

Much love
